Thankyou Mr. Colbert

If you haven't heard yet, Stephen Colbert threw DOWN at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner Saturday night.
For those of you who haven't seen it, here is a link to the video, and for the video-challenged, here is a link to the transcript.
Here's my favorite quote:
I stand by this man. I stand by this man because he stands for things. Not only for things, he stands on things. Things like aircraft carriers and rubble and recently flooded city squares. And that sends a strong message, that no matter what happens to America, she will always rebound -- with the most powerfully staged photo ops in the world.

Gab or Gob?

Diatriber alerts us of goings-on with Jay Farrar, and while the official Son Volt email tells us the Farrar/Parker side project is called "Gob Iron", Billboard Online seems to think its "Gab Iron".

Featuring at least one Stanley Brothers songs, as well as "Hills of Mexico," a traditional often associated with Woody Guthrie, "Gab Iron" (British slang for harmonica) coalesced just prior to the recording of Son Volt's 2005 album "Okemah and the Melody of Riot."

Billboard also notes that 2 new songs that may appear on the next Son Volt album are called "Methamphetamine" and "Dogs of Triumph".
